MIRAGE PAVILION
ART INSTALLATION
For the Sziget Festival — one of Europe’s largest music and cultural events held annually in Budapest— we designed a temporary mirrored pavilion intended to reconnect visitors with the surrounding forest landscape. The concept draws on a simple yet powerful architectural gesture: a 25-meter-long curvilinear band of mirrors suspended between trees, creating a dynamic interplay of light, reflection, and nature.

More than 1,200 reflective panels were arranged in a checkered pattern inspired by camouflage motifs, fragmenting and refracting views of the forest and sky. This fragmentation allowed visitors to experience shifting perspectives as they moved through the installation, dissolving the boundary between the built form and its natural setting.
Rather than relying on digital technology or artificial effects, the design uses basic architectural elements and natural light to produce a visually rich and immersive environment. The pavilion was erected for the duration of the festival and then dismantled, emphasizing both the ephemeral nature of the installation and its organic relationship with its surroundings.
